The weekend just got a little more funky ladies and gentlemen. It is with great pleasure that we present the first Aeroplane mix of the year! You can listen to the appropriately titled ‘What Do You Mean Balearic?!’ now, and head to the link below for a FREE DOWNLOAD! Just as the name implies, Vito is getting back to his roots and kicking things up a notch. The release celebrates his latest musical strategy, a brand new website called AeroplaneConnect (where you’ll download this mix), which is just getting started this week. Check it out and read more below!
When some think of Autumn, picking apples and colorful foliage might come to mind…not so much for the enlightened folks in Brooklyn. They don’t care about that stuff, not anyone with an affinity for getting down at least. Right now they’re too busy getting pumped for this year’s Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival, and so are we. Each year BEMF books a myriad of top-notch DJ’s, ranging from a few mainstream essentials to a heap of underground champions both local and international. Over the weekend these artists are mixed into various splurge-worthy bills spread across different venues and clubs. You can choose to attend individual gigs or buy festival passes to the entire event. This year they cooked up a ridiculously good lineup, undoubtedly their best one yet. Safe to say next weekend is going to be insane folks…absolutely wild.

Take the clubland shenanigans that happen there year round, and condense them into a weekend summary. That’s basically what the guys at BEMF have done. The multiple-venue format really works to the music’s advantage as well. In the end, you’re combining the diversity of a typical music festival with the intimate feel of a one-off club event. When you roll into a room everyone in the crowd has the same agenda: to see those specific artists perform. It works the same way on the opposite spectrum; when the artist gets on stage, they know that room is for them. It’s like playing on home field against the Yankees. In that sense, everyone is interconnected. It’s a beautiful thing. Now throw this year’s lineup into the mix (pun intended). There are so many good acts to choose from you’d think we were talking about a European event. Fans can see The Gaslamp Killer go psycho at Verboten, or hop over to the Music Hall of Williamsburg for the US return of Booka Shade, all in one night! Scared of falling too far into a dark techno abyss? Pull yourself out with the classy Belgian beats of Aeroplane ! It’s all there in a musical dream come true. In other words, Brooklyn slays it once again.
Now who could be ready for such an enduring marathon of techno-tronic calamity? Only a trained beat junkie and live music extraordinaire like you and I, that’s who! If you have a game face, this is the time to put it on. Will you take next weekend off and remind yourselves of what it is that makes you tick? Tickets are available here. We hope to see you there 😉
Were you starting to wonder where all the world’s cosmic tuneage went? Maybe just a little? Well put on your helmets, strap yourselves in, and say goodbye to gravity folks. It’s time for a brand new release from Ichisan. You may swoon accordingly.
Earlier in the year he told us he’d be doing a couple of releases as a precursor to his debut album (which is still in the works). This summer he gave fans a taste of his Extra Ball EP, due on Catune Records this fall. Now, a man of his word, here is a preview of the ‘Kristina’ EP, his second installment of space-laced dance tunes! The Kristina collection is set to drop September 15th on Internasjonal Records and includes two new originals. Despite it’s short length, the EP ranges from the soothing psychedelic overtones one might hear in his mixes, to the more dance-fueled guilty pleasures we hear at his shows. Both tracks showcase a more upbeat and raw sound this time around, an atmospheric result of his synthesizer collection no doubt. Read a full review and preview both tracks below! Space disco, we’ve missed you dearly. Read the rest of this entry
The Magician just pulled some fall tour dates out of his hat! Take it from us folks, that silver-tuned Casanova with a wand is about drop some heat on the USA. His former partnership with Aeroplane is barely a memory now. This artist has more than proven his worth in the electronic world as an individual heavy hitter. In just a few years he’s gone from playing a school-house rave in Connecticut (we were there), to having a video on MTV, worldwide radio presence, and bookings at venues like Exchange LA. The Magician puts 110% passion into his music and his performances. His styles may have shifted over the years, but we take full responsibility if you don’t have a blast at these shows. As far as the Northeast is concerned, he’ll be hitting Output in Brooklyn with the FIXED crew! Hope you’re ready for a pop soaked, piano-laden house party everybody!
Gypsy & the Cat- Piper’s Song (Aeroplane Remix)
Almost immediately topping the charts upon it’s release in 2010, this remix greatly overshadows G&TC’s original version and became an instant classic for fans of indie and electronic alike. “And this man he walks alone,
singing remixing songs of victory…”
Solé Fixtape Vol.25 – Aeroplane
” This is the twenty-fifth installment of the fixtapes presented by Solé Bicycles. A curated monthly mixtape series with the sole purpose to showcase our favorite artists’ tunes that both inspire and move them. Vibe with us as you ride off into the future. ”
The new ‘Deathwish’ EP from Martin Dubka is now available to stream on Soundcloud, and you listen to it now! On Monday, March 31st, the release will be available for purchase on Aeropop Records, which marks Dubka’s official addition to the family. Belgium’s most promising independent label just got a whole lot more analog.
Vito Deluca’s brainchild label is still new, but already gives home to releases from ATTARI!, and epic collaborations like Eurocrats (Aeroplane & Dimitri from Paris), and Beateria (Bottin & Aeroplane). Look out for the ‘Deathwish’ EP next week!
Chicago has long been relevant in the electronic music scene and has been cited as one of the first rudimentary sources of original underground house music going back to the 80’s, putting the city in the rank with Detroit and Toronto. Ghosts of Venice doesn’t produce house music, but he certainly adds to the city’s repertoire for talented beat makers. After making his first label appearance in 2009 on Defected Records, he has since worked hard on setting himself apart from the waves of other disco-house producers, and succeeded in that endeavor. Fans of Daft Punk, Bag Raiders, or Aeroplane circa 2009 will likely find refuge in Lee Dunn’s (Ghosts of Venice) funk heavy, pop-soaked music. He is past the point the stage of proving himself as an upcoming artist, so much so, that he will be opening for the legendary John Digweed on Halloween in Chicago! His discography is stacked with gems, but for now we’ll just give you a taste with his new remix of “My Body” by Treasure Fingers & The Knocks, available for download below.
Also check out this beautiful rendition of Lemaitre’s “Continuum”, out on Substellar Records, and available for purchase here.
Copenhagen’s rising star Brynjoflur is a brand new addition to Europe’s disco mafia, Eskimo Recordings. His first single with the label, “I Love You”, was made as an exclusive for the compilation album ‘The Pink Collection’, in addition he released an EP as well. Disregard the fact you’ve never heard of him. Like that matters, because you will. The kid is fierce, and nestles nice and snug with Eskimo. Far from a lethargic DJ (we don’t deal with those types), he’s been playing piano since he was a tiny Danish lad and experimenting with house music since his adolescence. This is his first EP and he already has support from Tensnake, Djuma Soundsystem, and the release features remixes from Pharaoh Black Magic, and Peter Visti. His discography is short but saturated with style and zeal. Check out the new “I Love You Mixtape for Eskimo Recordings” linked above, starting off with the title track and over an hour of first class disco-house picks.
Aeroplane just released a new remix of Surahn’s “Wonderful”, which you can stream now (linked above). This tune is classic Vito (Aeroplane). To this day he hasn’t produced a track faster than 120 beats per minute, and he has no need to. The melodic piano rolls, the walking bass that just won’t quit, the flashy synthesizers, it’s all there. He has a brand, a patented style, and that is only one of several indications of his talent. After a long career with Eskimo Recordings and a brief hiatus, he founded his own Aeropop label last year. You can see him perform courtesy of FIXED in New York City at the Highline Ballroom on September 27th! The remix will be available for purchase on DFA Records September 24th!
Check out the new ‘La Crique’ August Tape from Zimmer! Summer may be at an end, but that doesn’t we can’t pretend. Zimmer crafted this mix to be “the perfect pool party music”, and meets that goal with much success.
Enjoy the beats folks, it’s a pleasure as always -Cb
Rather than kicking off the month with another installment of his Magic Tape series, mysterious disco debonair The Magician just dropped a preview of his new single, “When the Night is Over” featuring Newtimers. Even better, he will be releasing his untitled debut EP on Parlophone Records this November! Not only will the EP include at least one original track, but it seems he has already gained remix support from Busy P, Digitalism, Todd Edwards, and more!
This will be The Magician’s first studio collection released since the formation of the solo project. He has a couple handfuls of original tracks and remixes he has dropped over the years, such as his remix of Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers” which continues to circulate on dancefloors across the globe after being released 2 years ago! He’s been known to collaborate with Yuksek, releasing tracks as Peter & The Magician, the most recent of which was “On My Brain”. The two have a couple EP’s together: On My Brain and Twist. The upcoming debut in November will be the first EP released solely by the Magician however.
Formerly the second half of Aeroplane, in 2010 Stephen Fasano said his goodbyes to his partner Vito. The Magician started out a small DJ project as an attempt to keep his career moving forward after leaving Vito Deluca and the Aeroplane moniker behind. From the beginning his Magic Tapes were catching on. He was coming out strong, and he needed to with the large portion of fans still attached to the Aeroplane name. The disappointment from the breakup was a quickly being forgot, soon to become an anecdote in the two artists’ history. This was especially true once he did his first US tour, showcasing his genuine skills as a DJ and taking clubs by storm. By the time the 3rd installment to theMagic Tapes was released, it was clear that The Magician was going to do big things.
The new single will be available for purchase and download on September 23rd, and keep your eyes for the new EP, out November 4th on Parlophone Records! Who knows, perhaps we might get a little tour out this too…
